The Corporate Traveler’s 2025-2026 Holiday Relocation Checklist: Book Smart, Stress Less
The period between Thanksgiving 2025 and mid-January 2026 is the busiest extended-stay season of the year. Projects wrap up, new assignments start January 1, and families sometimes relocate over winter break. Beat the rush (and the premium pricing) with this proven timeline used by thousands of Nika Corporate Housing guests every year.
6–8 Weeks Before Move-In (Now – Mid-November 2025)
- Lock in your dates and location – Even flexible leases fill fast in major markets (Atlanta, Charlotte, Dallas, Nashville, Tampa, Miami etc.).
- Submit your company’s housing request or contact NIKA directly for direct-bill options.
- Decide if you need pet-friendly, 1 or 2-bedroom, or short-term (30–90 day) accommodations.
- Pro tip: Rates and availability are best before December 1. Booking now can save 15–25% vs. last-minute.
4–6 Weeks Before (Late November – Early December)
- Finalize budget and lease length – Many companies increase housing caps during the holidays.
- Reserve parking (especially important in downtown/high-rise locations).
- Ask about holiday quiet-hour policies and guest policies if family is visiting.
2–4 Weeks Before (Mid-December)
- All Nika units include utilities, Wi-Fi, and streaming logins, so you’re truly move-in ready.
- Ship holiday gifts and décor directly to your new address (or our office, we’ll accept packages for you).
- Book airport transfers or confirm building shuttle schedules.
1 Week Before
- Finalize loose ends, get your move-in instructions.
- Stock the pantry – Use Instacart or Amazon Fresh and schedule delivery for arrival day.
- Confirm early check-in if you’re flying in the day after Christmas.
Arrival Day & First Week
- Enjoy your welcome basket (includes snacks, and local guide).
- Decorate immediately – A $30 tabletop tree and string lights change everything.
- Schedule any post-holiday furniture additions or upgrades (standing desks, baby gear, etc.).
Bonus January 2026 Tips
- Extend instead of re-booking – Most guests simply extend month-to-month with zero move-out/cleaning fees.
- Ask about Q1 2026 incentives – Many properties offer reduced rates starting January 15 once holiday demand drops.
Don’t let the most wonderful time of the year become the most stressful. Companies and travelers who plan with this checklist secure the best units, the lowest rates, and still have time to enjoy the season.
